Nino Ciampa

Antonino Salvatore “Nino” Ciampa (b. 2004) is a composer, arranger, bandleader, and multi-instrumentalist currently based in The Bronx, NY who recently graduated with him B.M. in music composition from the Hartt School of the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT. Apart from his focus in composition and arranging, Nino is a busy gigging musician often called to play many different instruments such as congas, timbales, bongós, bass guitar, voice, piano, guitar, and vibraphone. Nino has studied with private instrumental teachers such as Lou LaCava, Ed Saindon, Benjamin Toth, Joe Galeota, John Amira, Marcus Krieger, Gabriel Globus-Hoenich, Vinicius De Camargo Barros, Nicky Marrero, George Delgado, José Claussell, and Ted Pilzecker. He has also studied composition with teachers such as Yale Beebee, Davis Martin, Zaccai Curtis, and Javier Colón. 

While at Hartt, Nino formed his own band called The Hartt Salsa All-Stars, playing fan favorites in the world of salsa, Latin jazz, and mambo, as well as his own compositions. They have played at festivals, schools, restaurants, and private events across New England and New York. In October of 2024, they had the opportunity to perform at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. for a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. In addition to his work as a bandleader, Nino is an in-demand arranger, copyist, and percussionist for salsa groups in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. He has worked closely with notable musicians such as Zaccai Curtis, Javier Colón, Mitch Frohman, José Claussell, and Nicky Marrero, among others. In March of 2026, Nino gave his senior composition recital where he presented 11 original works for varying instrumentations, including string ensemble, an 11-piece funk band, and his 25-piece salsa band. Nino is soon to release his newest album, Sin Miedo al Exito, comprising 8 original salsa and Latin jazz compositions.

Apart from salsa and Latin jazz, Nino has experience playing in ensembles of many eclectic styles including folkloric Cuban and Haitian percussion, funk, soul, gospel, steelband music of Trinidad, Brazilian percussion, West African percussion, orchestral music, chamber music, and much more. In addition, Nino has a love for teaching young people, and since 2020, every summer he has taught music classes to students grades 4-11 in Brockton, MA with a non-profit called Educational Divide Reform. This program is aimed at students of low income households, immigrant students, and ESL students in particular. Since 2024, Nino has also been teaching English classes for the same program.

Nino’s album, Sin Miedo Al Exito will be available via Truth Revolution Recording Collective on October 2026.
