For more than half a century, the music of Machito, Tito Puente and Tito Rodríguez has stood as one of New York City’s defining cultural exports, establishing the sound of the Palladium Ballroom and shaping generations of Latin jazz and salsa musicians. While countless ensembles have drawn inspiration from that era, few can claim the direct connection of the Mambo Legends Orchestra.
On No Hay Que Hablar, releasing October 2, 2026 via Truth Revolution Recording Collective (TRRc). On the orchestra’s first new album since their Latin Grammy nominated recording Watch Out! ¡Ten Cuidao! (2011), the group brings together musicians whose careers helped define the very tradition they celebrate. Co-led by timbalero/arranger and musical director Jose Madera, saxophonist and flutist Mitch Frohman, and the late bongo master John “Dandy” Rodriguez, the ensemble is composed of artists who spent decades performing with the legendary orchestras of Tito Puente, Machito and Tito Rodríguez. Rather than recreating the past, No Hay Que Hablar demonstrates how that tradition continues to evolve through the musicians who lived it.
The project grew from our desire to assemble many of our longtime friends and collaborators in one orchestra, celebrating both the enduring artistry of the Palladium generation and the musicians who continue to carry the language forward. Eschewing the typical essence of a retrospective, this forward-thinking recording gathers masters whose shared history stretches across the very fabric of this music.
