What is Truth Revolution Records all about?
Made to be an oasis for like-minded artists, producers, managers, fans and more who want to support and experience a path of musical freedom.
Why the name?
Truth Revolution Records is totally transparent with their artists. Their relationship is based on a partnership agreement. In this agreement, the artist, label and fans unite against a system that is in need serious reform. TRR bases their business on the fact that each artist reserves their right to own his or her master recording, publishing of their music! This in itself is revolutionary!
To say there is no reason for systematic change would be ignoring the facts about the music industry. The artists, industry, and the consumers seem to be unsatisfied with this current system. The Truth Revolution Records approach is: “be the change you wish to see in the world.” And most important, we understand the corporate take over of the world. It destroys small businesses, limits the choices consumers have, raises the prices and begins to control large parts of the media and government. This is a fact of history but since we know that it is the real people that have the true power then we can make a difference.
There are only FOUR major record labels… That’s it!

Today, everything seems to be merging…
Mega corporations are buying out the small businesses all around us. This is limiting our power over the market and products. The bottom line is that the artists and consumers need choices. That is where we, the people, get our power. If we don’t buy…they don’t sell. Once these mega corporations consume everything, they gain the monopoly on the prices we pay as well as choose which products we buy. Soon it will become very hard for us to challenge those things. Why is power better in the hands of the people than in corporations? Because we think, feel, live and most importantly, have compassion. Mega Corps, On the other hand, can not.
What is a corporation?
In 1819, the U.S. Supreme Court granted corporations a plethora of rights they had not previously recognized or enjoyed. Corporate charters were deemed “inviolable,” and not subject to arbitrary amendment or abolition by state governments. The Corporation as a whole was labeled an “artificial person,” possessing both individuality and immortality. -wikipedia
The record industry, like the airlines and transportation systems, among countless others is being merged and bought out by the largest corporate entities. In fact, since 2005, of the 100 largest economies in the world, 51 are now global corporations; 49 are countries!
This “corporate individual/Person” is also protected by the 14th Amendment of the constitution.
“No State shall make or enforce any law, which, shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
The interpretation of the word “person” gives corporations the same protections and rights as a human being, but there are not many repercussions for the “man behind the curtain.” Fighting a mega corporation is like fighting and army of robots. They feel no pain. They have nothing to lose because they are controlled, by remote, from the source. Not to mention the very small percentage of income tax (if any) they pay compared to small businesses.
Reuters news just announced this year “Study says most corporation pay no U.S. income tax! While we pay up to 30-40% these muli-billion dollar industries pay nothing! This is not a free market system for sure.
The last thing we want to expose is the R.I.A.A. (Recording Industry Association of America) They are the organization that represents the recording industry distributors in the United States. Its members consist of record labels and distributors, which the RIAA say, “create, manufacture and/or distribute approximately 85% of all legitimate sound recordings produced and sold in the United States.” It seems like all of these things are controlled by a fairly small group of people, yet they are MEGALY(the adverb form of mega) incorporated. Even when it comes down to Music Festivals and radio….especially the radio.
The fact is, if you’re signed to a major label, hopefully you are being looked after. If not then lets make a change in how things are done.
It’s knowledge of how to start your own label, own your own publishing co., start your own website, how to get a tax I.D., how to start an L.L.C…. etc. This is the future of music. I would be surprised if CD printing is the next step for the independent musician and record label. Once you acquire the knowlege then you carry out your path to independence. And the secret is that in the long run you own more of your music and in some cases make more money than artist on record label that own the master.
Truth Revolution Records is not about money or becoming a large industry. It can’t be. It is about what we believe. Our first order of business is to base our label around the fact that the artist keep their music. Partnership, truth, respect, love and integrity. We realize we need your support for this to happen.
