Kris Allen is a saxophonist, composer and educator, who was born and raised in the Hartford, Connecticut area. While still in high school he was named the top high school jazz musician in the US by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Kris went on to earn music degrees at the Hartt School and Purchase Conservatory, and has subsequently performed alongside and/or recorded with many jazz legends such as Illinois Jacqet, Gerald Wilson, and Curtis Fuller, as well as modern stars such as Steve Davis, Andy Laverne, and Kevin Mahogany. Kris is on the faculty of the Hartt School of Music, and Trinity College. He can presently be heard at major jazz venues as a sideman with Kendrick Oliver and the New Life Orchestra. He is featured on the recently released ” Steeplechase Jam Session Volume 15″ available on Steeplechase records. Kris has been a resident artist at the Litchfield Jazz Camp since 2001.
