Venezuelan-born drummer and composer Marlon Simon has been making waves in the jazz scene since his arrival in the U.S. in 1987. A graduate of The New School for Social Research in New York, Marlon honed his craft alongside jazz luminaries like Hilton Ruiz, Jerry González, and Dave Valentin.
In 1994, Marlon formed his band, the Nagual Spirits, as a platform for his original compositions. With his brothers Edward on piano and Michael on trumpet by his side, Marlon embarked on a musical journey that would take him around the globe.
Beyond his work as a performer, Marlon is also a dedicated educator, leading workshops and master classes at colleges and public schools in New York. His commitment to music education has earned him grants and awards, allowing him to travel and perform in countries like Canada, Poland, and Australia.
